Catalina Berarducci was born in Buenos Aires Province in 1989 and grew up between Mexico City and Buenos Aires. She writes, edits, and occasionally makes films. For the past year and a half, she has been directing La Americana, an independent bookstore dedicated to literature from across the continent.

We visited Cata at La Americana, where she shared stories about the sport she practiced as a child: sailing Optimist boats. She sailed between the ages of eight and eleven while living in Uruguay, and recently returned to the sport alongside her boyfriend, who also grew up sailing.

Between shelves of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and essays, Cata also shared some of her favorite books currently available at La Americana: Ascent of the Mother by Noelle Kocot, Control o no control by Fernanda Laguna, Two Serious Ladies and Simple Pleasures by Jane Bowles, and Maquillada: Ensayo sobre el mundo y sus sombras by Daphné B.
